Increasing population in the world, developing technology and industrialization, as well as business centers, large shopping centers, high-rise buildings, hotels, schools, hospitals, metros, such as the increase in the structure of public buildings open to the risk of fire and consequently bring about material and moral damages.

The first way to prevent and reduce the loss of life and property damage due to fire is to eliminate or reduce the factors that may cause fire. To avoid fire, it is important to note that the golden rule is not to put out the fire, but to prevent the fire from coming out.

The materials used in the construction materials and the cables used as the basis of the electrical systems, the fire resistance and resistance properties of the materials have come to the fore. The continuity of the cables during a possible fire, ensuring continuity and reducing the emission of harmful, toxic gases that will adversely affect human health, the reaction against fire and the production of high strength materials by using high-end materials are very important for life and property security.

For the cable sector, CPR (Construction Products Regulation) contains the requirements for the power, control and communication cables used in the fixed installations, including building and infrastructure, to react fire to fire and fire resistance, and to release hazardous materials. However, it requires the fire declaration and CE marking of the cables used in buildings.

For the cables in the European Union, the CE Declaration is only required for circulation in the European Union and the manufacturer’s declaration is accepted for this directive, while the Fire Performance Declaration (DoP) is required to add CE mark to the materials after CPR.

For cables, the EN 50575 standard will be mandatory from 1 July 2017, and companies that will sell or distribute cables in the European Union will be able to legally request the cable manufacturer to issue a product declaration of performance (DoP) and CE marking on the product.

Hazardous Substance Exposure
In July 2015; The EN 50575 standard, which specifies the performance criteria of the CPR’s control, communication and power cables’ fire response performance tests and their test methods, has been published. This standard regulates performance classes and qualification criteria for these performance classes without a performance limitation on a cable basis.
